Did all start with a unique prompt?

Did all start with a unique prompt?

An agonizing introduction

Because it gave me no peace and Google was far from enough for me, I was on the lookout for new territory. And yes, I found what I was looking for. Attached is a little story about search engines and then, yes then a huge list of new tools that are mega. Am already curious what you say about it! Looking forward to comments and an open conversation!

The Struggle we still face with Search and Find:

Despite the advancements in search engine technology, there are still some things and people that can be difficult to find online. Here are a few reasons why:

search engines overview AI poweredLack of information: One of the biggest challenges in finding things or people online is the lack of information. For example, if someone has a common name or has not posted much information about themselves online, it can be difficult to track them down.

Inaccurate information: Another challenge is the abundance of inaccurate or misleading information on the internet. This can make it difficult to determine what information is reliable and what is not.

Privacy concerns: Many people are concerned about their privacy online, and may take steps to protect their personal information. This can make it difficult to find them online, especially if they are not active on social media or other public platforms.

Language barriers: The internet is a global network, but language barriers can make it difficult to find information or people in other parts of the world. Search engines may not be able to accurately translate search terms or may not have access to information in certain languages.

Limited accessibility: Finally, some information may be restricted or not accessible online due to various reasons such as technical limitations, censorship, or legal restrictions. This can make it difficult or impossible to find certain things or people online.

The history of search engines:

The history of search engines can be traced back to the early days of the internet. In the early 1990s, the internet was a relatively new and small network, and finding information was a challenge. At that time, there were no search engines as we know them today, and users had to rely on manual searches or browsing through directories to find what they were looking for.

The first search engine to gain widespread popularity was called “Archie.” Created in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Archie was a simple program that searched for files on anonymous FTP servers. It was used primarily by academics and researchers to find and share information.

Decisions we make

A few years later, in 1993, another search engine called “Gopher” was created at the University of Minnesota. Gopher was a menu-based system that allowed users to browse through files and directories in a hierarchical structure. It quickly became popular among early internet users, and was seen as a major step forward in making the internet more accessible.

But it was not until 1994 that the first modern search engine, “WebCrawler,” was launched. Created by Brian Pinkerton, a computer science student at the University of Washington, WebCrawler was the first search engine to index entire web pages, rather than just file names and directory listings. It quickly gained popularity, and was soon followed by other search engines such as Lycos, AltaVista, and Yahoo.

These early search engines used basic algorithms to index and rank web pages based on keywords and other factors. However, as the internet continued to grow and evolve, search engines became more sophisticated, using complex algorithms and machine learning techniques to deliver more relevant and personalized search results. Today, search engines are an integral part of our daily lives, helping us to find information, connect with others, and navigate the vast landscape of the internet.

Potential changes we may see in search engines in the future can be:

Increased personalization: Search engines are likely to become even more personalized, tailored to each user’s unique interests and browsing history. This could involve using AI algorithms to analyze user behavior and preferences, and delivering search results that are more relevant to each individual user.

More visual search: Visual search technology is already becoming more advanced, allowing users to search for products or information by simply uploading an image. In the future, we may see more widespread use of visual search, as well as the integration of augmented reality and virtual reality technologies to enhance the search experience.

Better natural language processing: As natural language processing (NLP) technology continues to improve, search engines may become even better at understanding and interpreting complex queries. This could include the ability to answer more complex questions, understand the nuances of language and context, and deliver more accurate and relevant results.

Increased use of voice search: With the proliferation of smart speakers and other voice-enabled devices, voice search is likely to become even more popular in the coming years. As a result, search engines may need to adapt to better understand and interpret voice commands, as well as deliver search results that are optimized for voice-based queries.

Greater emphasis on privacy: With growing concerns about online privacy and data security, search engines may need to place greater emphasis on protecting user data and respecting user privacy. This could involve implementing stronger encryption measures, giving users more control over their data, and limiting the collection and use of personal information.

What’s really going on behind the scenes? Here are a few insights into what I found. Some sites on the net have really turned the corner and created something new, it remains to be seen what will develop from this.

IDStrong SreenshotIDStrong ( Dark Web Scan )

The IDStrong Dark Web Scan is a service offered by IDStrong, a provider of identity theft protection services. Lexica ScreenshotLexica ( Art Picture Search )

The Lexica Picture Search .This search engine is not only an art search engine for AI images, but it can generate AI images on command. Just use the prompt in the generate field. You can also exclude negative words. Summa summarum a free service that you can use. By the way, the input image is created with Lexica. If you search and / or create longer you can get one or the other interesting picture!

What Perplexity (How this search engine works see below) says about it: Lexica.art is created using Stable Diffusion, one of the most popular AI art models. The site was created by Sharif Shameem, who hopes it will “make Stable Diffusion Prompting a little less of a dark art and more of a science.”

On the site, users can browse through an extensive gallery of AI artwork, and when they click on an image, the entire prompt used to create the artwork is displayed, along with information about the seed. Lexica’s best feature is the search bar, which allows users to search for specific prompts or prompt elements. If someone has already created an artwork similar to your search query, you can proceed as you would with an art generator without having to wait a minute (or more) for results. Users can also create images from text and save their favorite images in a personal gallery. There is also a YouTube tutorial for beginners that shows how to use Lexica.art.

Conclusion on search and find.

The search engine landscape has not only changed a lot, it will hopefully continue to improve a lot. But it remains to be seen whether quality will win out over quantity.

Speaking of quality, attached are the 5 most important factors on how we should measure search engines:

Relevance of search results: The primary measure of a search engine’s quality is the relevance of its search results. A high-quality search engine should deliver accurate and useful results that match the user’s search intent. Evaluate whether the search engine consistently provides relevant and trustworthy information, and whether it effectively filters out irrelevant or spammy content.

Search algorithm and ranking methodology: The search algorithm and ranking methodology used by a search engine play a significant role in determining the quality of search results. Assess whether the search engine employs advanced algorithms and techniques, such as natural language processing, machine learning, and semantic analysis, to understand user queries and deliver more accurate results.

Search coverage and index size: The size and comprehensiveness of a search engine’s index impact its ability to retrieve relevant information. A high-quality search engine should have a vast index that encompasses a wide range of web pages, documents, images, videos, and other content types. Consider whether the search engine provides comprehensive coverage across different domains and languages.

User experience and interface: Evaluate the user experience and interface of the search engine. A high-quality search engine should have an intuitive and user-friendly interface that allows users to easily navigate, refine their search queries, and access additional features or filters. Assess whether the search engine provides useful features like auto-suggestions, spell-checking, and advanced search options.

Privacy and security: The quality of a search engine is also influenced by its commitment to user privacy and security. Consider whether the search engine prioritizes user privacy by implementing secure browsing protocols, offering options for encrypted connections, and respecting user data and preferences.

Now it´s your turn:

So and now times hard into the court! I actually no longer trust any machine. Therefore, it is the least to verify with Google and his fellow men. That is just my humble opinion! Because I have often noticed that AI also simply parrots what it finds. Na no na ned. One says with us, which means so much: How else can a machine obtain knowledge! Attached is also a small assessment of what has happened in this area. So and now you! I look forward to your comment so that we can discuss it!

Kind regards TomFuturo

The one or other link will certainly be worthwhile. I’m already curious what others will say, too. The article is really loaded with mega stuff too. But let´s focus on unique content.
